25 Printable Kindergarten Vocabulary Worksheets

Teachers, parents, and adults that regularly work with children know the importance of kids having easy access to good vocabulary and fun activities. Such access helps them grow and learn about the world!
A well-developed vocabulary, or lengthy knowledge of words, is directly related to their school achievement and reading ability. Being able to read new words and unfamiliar words helps build vocabulary and better readers. Which in turn, helps kindergarten students learn and understand anything they want!
Kindergarten Vocabulary Words
Did you know that a kindergarten student’s vocabulary can help predict how their ability to read will develop? Vocabulary words not only emphasize the meaning of words, but also the spelling. Learning these helps children comprehend what they are reading.
Having a lengthy list of grade level appropriate vocabulary and sight words will ensure that your kindergarteners will be reading-ready first graders.
Seasonal lists and lessons make each part of the school year feel a little special! For example, if it’s December, students are going to be looking forward to the holiday-themed words, activities, and assessments.
Themed Kindergarten Vocabulary Worksheets

Making Words Vocabulary Worksheets
The Making Words bundles and seasonal vocabulary lists include vocabulary index cards and Making Words kindergarten vocabulary worksheets for each word in the list.
The illustrated word cards have cute images that to visually describe the vocabulary word. Use them for a word bank or word wall!
Along with the vocabulary cards, you will get a printable worksheet for each themed vocabulary word.
The kids will:
- Build the word with cut and paste letter tiles
- Write the word or a sentence including the word
- Illustrate a picture of the word
If your kids need a writing challenge, you can easily differentiate by having them write a sentence rather than just the word.
The kids will also work on fine motor skills as they complete the cut and paste section, before writing and illustrating the vocabulary word.
