4 Free Pet Worksheets and Activities for Kids
I’ve teamed up with some awesome teacher authors to bring you a collection of free pet worksheets for kids.
Benefits of Kids Having a Pet
Kids love their pets. In fact, according to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, “A child who learns to care for an animal, and treat it kindly and patiently, may get invaluable training in learning to treat people the same way”. (Pets and Children)
More so, kids who have animals will experience more love, affection, and loyalty. Children will also learn responsibility, a connection with nature, and learn deeper lessons about life, and form a trusting bond.
Pet Worksheets and Activities
The following pet worksheets and activities for kids will help you integrate math and language arts standards with the kids’ love for animals. Thus, making the learning material more relatable and fun.
First, I will highlight my free resource that you can use for your pet themed lessons. Then, at the end of this blog post, you will find a list of the other free pet worksheets and activities.
Mary Had a Little Lamb
While you will find other pet worksheets based on traditional pets, such as dogs, cats, and fish, I want to highlight the pets found on a farm.
Plus, if you are familiar with Little Learning Corner, then you know I have a love for poetry and nursery rhymes. So, it only makes sense to give you a Mary Had a Little Lamb Build a Poem in this free pet collection.
Farm animals, such as lambs, horses, sheep, and pigs, can be excellent pets to have around. Just look at the bond between Mary and her lamb.
In the popular mother goose nursery rhyme, Mary Had a Little Lamb, the lamb follows her to school each day! This is prime example of how much of a bond kids can form with their pets.

After signing up, you will be taken directly to your free Build a Poem. Simply print it off, cut out the word cards, and let the fun begin.
The kids will use the large print word cards to build the poem, then recite it to their peers. To personalize the poem, you can remove the “Mary” cards, and replace it with a child’s name written on a post-it note.
