Outfits for Teachers on a Budget
Did you know, according to neaToday, the average teaching salary has gone down over the past decade? While I have high hopes educators will soon earn a salary they deserve, this currently leaves teachers to live on a budget.
From the thousands of teachers in my FB group, Teachers on a Budget, I have seen your wish to find deals on everything from outfits for teachers to classroom supplies. To help, I have teamed up with an amazing friends of mine to help you save on outfits for teachers on a budget.
White Tree Boutique for Women
White Tree is a local and online boutique run by one of my favorite people in town!
Lindsay started her boutique in her home, opening her doors and heart to all of the local women flocking to get their hands on these adorable clothes.
I recall walking into her home for the first time, and feeling overwhelmed with the love and gratitude I got from Lindsay and her mom, Sandy. I, too, couldn’t stay away, because it was the first local boutique that carried all sizes – from XS to plus size clothing. She has since opened her own storefront, while continuing to build her online presence on with the help of her trendy team!
Lindsay always supports the local community, and knows that us teachers are on a tight budget. As you will see in the teacher outfits below, she works hard to keep prices down, and is willing to share a special coupon code to help save you more money! Keep reading to see the adorable teacher outfits and get your teacher discount code for clothes.
Outfits for Teachers on a Budget
Casual Teacher Outfit: The Classic Button Up
My first pick might be a staple in every teacher’s closet. Speaking of closet, if you are trying to establish a collection of good teacher outfits, I’d suggest mixing up your wardrobe. Have a few casual tops, simple dresses, layering pieces, leggings, skinny pants, and even suit attire…just in case.
Let’s look at this adorable casual outfit for teachers to wear any day of the week.
Skinny white pants, boots, and a denim button-up paired with cute earrings is a timeless outfit for all ages.
You can easily change it up, swapping the white jeans for black leggings, and throw on a cardigan for the cooler months.
Dresses for Teaching: Throw and Go Dress
Putting together outfits for teachers couldn’t be easier than grabbing a pretty dress from your closet, throwing it on, and rushing out the door.
Let’s be real, teachers have no time, and simplicity is key!
To help ya out, here are three dresses that would be great for a school event, picture day, or for those days when you want to be pulled together, yet feel comfortable.
Layering Pieces for Teaching Outfits
Oh, ladies…if you’re a teacher, you know all about layering! It’s essential. Half of the time, our classrooms are freezing (unless you don’t have AC), and we need to throw on a simple sweater or cardigan.
Popcorn sweaters are all the rage right now. How pretty is this sweater cardigan?
And, not to mention the trendy cami under it; just awesome! Teachers almost always have a cardigan nearby. From bus duty to recess duty, you’re going to want extra layers. Or, perhaps you’re like me, and go from being hot to cold frequently….layers with a sweater is the way to go!
Another hot trend that is coming back is the blazer! Once you get into the groove of throwing on a blazer, you’ll see it’s the easiest way to make a layered outfit look professional.
The Classic Maxi Skirt
Maxi skirts are a teachers best friend.
They are cool enough for recess duty and over heated classrooms, but long enough for getting onto the floor with the kiddos, or sitting with your legs crossed while doing a read-aloud. This is my friend, Erin, from Classroom and Cats. She found this summer to fall transitional piece through stitch fix. You can read her entire review, here.
Casual but Cute
If you’re lucky enough to wear jeans to work, then keep it casual but cute! Here are couple ways you can pull off wearing jeans to work.
Pair a pretty blouse with a pair of dark jeans and nice shoes. I’m dying to know…what are your thoughts on the flair jeans coming back into style? Not to date myself too much, but flair jeans and button fly jeans were some of my favorite back in the day.
There are many ways to make outfits for teachers feel casual while still looking cute. Look at how beautiful this pop of color looks over a comfy tank or t-shirt paired with non-distressed jeans.
